What documents are required for travel?

A valid US Passport is the best way to travel on all itineraries. Some itineraries will allow an original birth certificate in conjunction with a valid photo ID.

Is the ship cashless?

Yes! Any charge is put onto your onboard folio via your Medallion.

What is a Medallion?

This is a quarter size device that all guests have. The Medallion is used for many things. It opens your stateroom door, check in at bars/restaurants, it is used to make charges to your room, identify you when coming off/on ship, and even locate other travelers in your party.

Are crew tips included?

Crew tips or appreciation is required for all passengers. This will be paid automatically at time of booking either or if you get a package such as Princess Plus or Princess Premier where they are already included.

Will I get sea sick?

The larger ships are more stable with heavier weight and therefore are less prone to rolling motion. Most ships are so large and well-stabilized that it doesn’t even feel like you’re moving, especially in calmer waters such as Alaska’s Inside Passage and the Caribbean. The middle of the ship tends have less motion, as it is the natural balance point. You can always bring motion sick medication or get a prescribed patch from your doctor before sailing.

What is becoming Ocean Ready?

Ocean Ready ready process starts before sailing. It starts when you order and even customize your Medallion. You will need this for sailing. It also is a time when your travel documents, payment information, emergency contact, security photo and payment information is linked to Princess and your Medallion. When all of this is completed, you will be Ocean Ready!

Should I get a cruise package?

This really depends on what YOU want out of your vacation. A cruise package such as Princess Plus or Princess Premier is going to include things like soda, bottled water, alcohol, specialty restaurants, WIFI, photos, and crew appreciation. These packages do come at an additional cost per person, per day, and are a great way to get the most out of your vacation.

What is included if I decide to not purchase a cruise package?

There are still plenty of options for food, drink and entertainment that are available to guests who do not purchase a cruise package. Main dining room meals (4 courses), buffets, and other casual venues such as pizza and burgers/hotdogs on the Lido deck. Entertainment and activities are also included.

When do you get your Medallion?

Your Medallion is either shipped to your house pre-cruise (a few weeks) or can be picked up the port before boarding.

What should I bring to wear?

Casual sportswear, including shorts, lightweight pants and jogging suits, is the order of the day both at sea and ashore in hotter climates. We recommend you bring a sweater, a jacket or an all-weather coat for cool evenings, and for shore excursions, depending on your destination. You'll also want comfortable shoes for strolling on deck.

For evening dining, keep with what you would wear to a nice restaurant at home: skirts/dresses, slacks, and sweaters for ladies, pants and open-neck shirts for men. Cruises five days or longer include at least one formal dining night: evening gowns and cocktail dresses for ladies and tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits for men.

Is phone and internet access available?

Mobile phone service is available for use when the ship is at sea, in international waters, and in other areas where such use is permitted. All charges will be conveniently billed to you directly by your mobile device provider.
